Please select an accounting niche service area. You know what they are. Then choose your city or the nearest city. Either search a business listing, the yellow pages, or use the internet. Then count the number of accounting firms in the city that list services in that particular niche service area. (I suggest you not use tax and audit or Small Business Services. Try something less common to firms, like litigation services or forensic accounting or International Business). I did a quick search in Richmond, VA for accountants who list services to non-profit organizations. I found 15 very quickly.

The question is: do you want to be one of the many and compete with many other firms, or do you want to build a micro-niche and stand alone or with only one or two competitors?
