Shine a Spotlight On Books for Christmas– December Campaign

By Kira Simpson

We have been having a little trouble getting this initiative off the ground but have tried to be patient to make sure we get it right because it is critical to driving traffic to Coach Spotlight and to your Public Profiles.

Here’s the concept. Each month, we choose a topic that is hot in the news for people who are in the target markets for coaching. Then, we get coaches who are actively involved in that coaching discipline to write articles about that topic. Topics will be broad to allow a variety of different spins.

So … The holiday season is fast approaching and although it is a time of great happiness for many, the current economic times have led to tremendous difficulty for a large number of people. Careers and relationships are being strained and business owners are struggling with strategies ranging from survival to taking advantage of opportunities that have been created by the recession.

People have long turned to books for inspiration and guidance and business and life coaches are definitely authorities on the best books within their areas of expertise.

To kick things off, the focus for December is “Shine a Spotlight On Books for Christmas”. Please select one or more of your favorite books that can help an individual with life issues, such as relationships, career or parenting or business issues, like leadership, business growth or business strategy. Then write a review or post one if you wrote one previously. Make sure the book name is in the title. Then, instead of posting it in your blog, please log in to Coach Spotlight then and on My Spotlight, choose Add an Article from the Options section on the right. Choose “Shine a Spotlight On…” as your category, put the title in the Headline box and the text of your review in Article Body. Then click on Submit.

Once we get a reasonable number of posts, we will run a public relations campaign to get people to visit the site. We will also Tweet each article to increase exposure. (Actually, we now do this for every article that is published on Coach Spotlight.)

The holiday season is fast approaching, so please work on your book reviews as soon as possible. There is no restriction on the number of reviews you post. Deadline for submissions is December 10th. Sorry for the short notice.

Please direct any questions to info@coachspotlight.com or use the new Chat buttons that have been posted all over the site.

Coach Spotlight Update

By: Bob Simpson

We have changed our positioning statement for Coach Spotlight – “to help people solve problems and or establish relationships with professionals who can help them.”

We now have 2,700 articles published by 157 Coach Spotlight contributors.

Our traffic has continued to grow and we are making great progress with the search engines. We are number one on “Business Coach Canada” and “Life Coach Canada” on Google, which we think is great since we only launched the site in May. Our ranking for “Business Coach” has improved by 198 positions to number 79 over the past month. A couple more that are coming along nicely are “Find a Business Coach” - improved 452 to 14 and “Find a Life Coach” - improved 127 to 44. Not all on page one of Google, but we are getting there.

We had a display booth at the International Coach Federation Toronto Conference this month and over 30 new contributors joined us that day. Welcome.

We have still not achieved our monthly traffic target so Premium Contributors will not renew until some time in 2011.

On November, we took www.wealthmanagerspotlight.com live. It is a site similar to Coach Spotlight for financial advisors, financial planners and wealth managers.

Future blogs will be more regular and much shorter.

Will Your Article Title Get Results?

By Linda Dessau

The right article title will get your article placed on search engine results pages when your prospective client searches for help. And once your article shows up in front of that ideal client, the right title will compel them to click through to read more.

If you're like me, sometimes you put more energy into writing a good article than you do choosing your title. Well, I'm personally making much more of an effort with my article titles these days. I care about you and the other coaches who need my help with their article writing and article marketing, and I want you to find my articles online!

If you really care about your prospective clients, I encourage you to put more thought into your article titles. For some article title techniques, please see my newest article in the Coach Spotlight Backstage area, "Article marketing: How to be keyword rich AND creative in your article titles." http://coachspotlight.com/BACKSTAGE/Article-marketing-How-to-be-keyword-rich-AND-creative-in-your-article-titles

Happy writing!

PS (from Bob Simpson): The little Chat buttons on the site are from a service, Live Person. It allows us to watch, live, the search terms people are using to find us. In many cases, visitors have searched for a term like “peter drucker passion for work article”. Get your keywords in your titles and it will help people find you both on the search engines like Google and on Coach Spotlight.
